Hello readers,
My apologies for being so quiet lately, but fighting my depression has been taking nearly all of my energy. I have not been able to come up with much to speak about, and my only pen related purchase was to get some ink samples from Goulet Pens. With this order, I realized that I need to find a way to catalogue my inks, and maybe even what pens I use them with.

When Goulet Pens had one of their ink sample sales recently, I was lucky enough to be able to order six new samples to try. This was the first time that I have gotten ink samples and had an issue like a nearly empty ink vial that had leaked out. I quickly got in touch with the wonderful customer support people at Goulet Pens. They quickly sent me a new sample of what I had lost in transit, and I got it very quickly.

Since I have started sharing my currently inked pens, I have been trying to clean out and put away my pens that run dry, and wait for the new month to start before inking up new pens. I somewhat managed to hold to that conviction when I got my new samples. This means that of the 6 samples I got, I have only tried two of them. I will talk about these inks first and then cover the other samples I got.

The first ink that I really looked at was the one that had leaked out, and once the vial was cleaned off, I realized that I had just enough for a partial fill of a converter. So I grabbed my recently cleaned matte black Majohn A1, and inked it up with Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu. This ink is a very nice shade of purple. It flows from the nib very smoothly, and looks quite nice on more fountain pen friendly paper.

The next pen that I wanted to ink back up was my Spring Green LAMY Safari, with a left handed nib, and I decided I wanted to try out my new Pelikan Edelstein Jade sample. I love this shade of green. On nicer paper, this ink is a light shade of green that stays well within legible ranges. It even has an almost cloudy aspect to the ink that reminds me of real jade!
That does it for the inks that I have tried out of this new batch of samples. Of the remaining four samples, one is a Colorverse ink, and the last three are a Diamine inks. I have been interested in Colorverse for a little while now, but have only tried one of their standard inks before now. Since the sale was going on through Goulet Pens, I wanted to try their exclusive collabaration ink, Witch By Starlight. I also got this sample because I do really like purple!
For my Diamine samples, the first color I got is Blue Flame. I got this ink because I am looking for more fun blue inks that I can get away with using more often. The second sample I got from them is Silver Fox. I got this sample because I have always enjoyed writing in shades of grey and silver, and had not tried this one yet. My last Diamine sample is Solar Storm. I got this ink, again, because purple is my favorite color, and I also wanted to compare it to the Colorverse Witch By Starlight.

I recently ordered a couple of ruber stamps from Pinky Elephant, one of which is a one inch by one inch ink bottle. As the pictures above have shown, I only have a few inks swatched up with this new process for me. The ink pad that I am using with the stamp is a Tsukineko Versa Magic Jumbo Java. The notebook that I am using for keeping track of my inks is a Maruman Mnemosyne B5 sized one, because this is the paper that I find myself writing on the most.
Well, I think that is going to do it for this post. I hope you enjoyed seeing my recent ink purchase. Have any of you gotten a new ink or pen recently? I would love to hear about it, so please feel free to tell me about them in the comments. I am waiting for a specific pen to come out before I buy another pen, but I want to leave the exact pen a secret until I actually have it in my hands. I am hoping to get at least one more post up before I make my next monthly inked list, but I don’t know what it will be about yet. Until next time. Stay happy and healthy, and keep on learning!

I like your little ink bottle stamp! I got a few Diamine ink samples recently, and I really like them. I think Diamine works best for me and the way I write. I like a really fine line, and I am much more likely to get that from a Diamine ink than anything else I have tried.

I’ve considered buying a stamp and making a ink sample book. I fear it is just a bright shiny object (to me) and will simply occupy a space on my desk and collect dust. Do you review your book when looking for a color to buy?

I totally understand thinking it will just sit there, but once I got mine, I have been using them more in my personal journaling. Honestly I just started keeping track, but I did double check my list for the Diamine inks
