Hello readers,
Here we are at the beginning of a new month, which means it is time to share what I have inked up for the month. This month I am still working on finishing off two of my pens from last month, but I will still cover those a little. Now on to the pens and inks!

The first pen that I am working on finishing up is my Lamy AL-Star in Lilac. I filled up a Lamy cartridge with this last month, so I still have nearly a quarter of the cartridge left. I am still enjoying this ink, especially on nicer paper where I can see the purple a little better. I must admit that I haven’t tried a water drop test with this ink, but I doubt it would stand a chance at all of staying on the page.

My second pen for the month, and a stay over from last month, is my TWSBI Mini AL in Grape. I have been writing with this a decent amount, but I still have about half of the ink, Diamine Raise a Glass, left in it. The more I am using this pen and ink combo, the happier I am with it. I may decide to keep this as a dedicated combo, but I am not sure yet.

My third pen for the month, and my first new one, is my Conlkin Durograph with an Omniflex nib on it. I chose this pen to try out a new ink from the Diamine Inkvent calendar, Bah Humbug. I know it is a horrible picture of the ink swatch, but it came out as a nice dark red with red shimmer to it, but in this pen it is coming out almost brown. I like the color either way, but I am hoping it turns more red before I finish the convter of ink.

For my fourth pen I decided to pull out one of my Majohn A1 pens and inked it up with Diamine Silver Fox. I guess I didn’t do a very good job of cleaning out the pen after the last ink, because the ink is coming out more as a grey brown than the true grey it should be. I should have known that I hadn’t cleaned it very well because I had a hard time getting the pen to write. After a little work I was able to get the pen to work, and it is writing very nicely again.

I just couldn’t resist pulling my Benu Talisman pen back out, so I have that one next. I knew that I was going to try out the new Jacaranda ink from the calendar, but showed great restraint from inking this pen up early. Honestly, I think that this ink matches the pen perfectly, and could easily see myself only using this combo together from now on. I will admit that I haven’t used this pen very much yet this month, but I am confident in saying it is my favorite pairing for the month.

My last pen for the month is a brand new one that I was recently lucky enough to get, the new TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR in Black. I was a little worried that I would not like the ridges on this grip section, but I was surprised to find that I don’t really notice them when I am writing. I was also lucky enough to get a new ink, Diamine Celadon Cat, so I decided to put them together. I really like this ink so far, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be legible, but it has been very legible so far out of a fine nib. So far I am quite happy with this combo, but I am looking forward to trying them both out seperately. I am not sure if it is the pen or the ink, but this is a very wet writing experience, I am curious to see if it is just the ink. This is another ink that I don’t think would stand up to water at all.

That does it for my pens and inks for the month. I think my next post is going to be a short one with a question for all of you, and then I will be posting my review of my new TWSBI once I have written with it some more. I hope you have enjoed learning what I am writing with this month. Until next time. Stay happy and healthy, and keep on learning!

Your pens this month are all black or purple, it seems. I like that! I can see why you like the Jacaranda in the BENU; it looks like a perfect match.
In your writing sample, the Celadon Cat looks almost gray. That isn’t what I was expecting. Is it really writing gray?

I would say it is more of a green than grey, but very watered down.

Thanks. It definitely appears to be more legible than I expected.
